The Result of Questionnaire about ESG Related Fund

January 10, 2019
Japan Investment Trusts Association

ESG investment is an idea of investment that emphasizes factors other than financial information such as environment, social and governance. ESG investment has been expanding mainly in Europe and the United States, but in recent years, Japan's asset management industry is making active efforts.

GSIA (Global Sustainable Investment Alliance)*, an international organization to disseminate sustainable investment in consideration of the environment and social issues, categorizes ESG investment methods into 7 types as described in Attachment 1.

In response to the publication of the recommendation of the High Level Meeting on ESG Finance of the Ministry of the Environment, we conducted a questionnaire survey targeting investment management companies based on the "ESG investment methods and definitions" established by GSIA. We compiled statistics of ESG related funds based on data submitted by each company and announce it. Please refer to Attachment 2 for details.
